L'aéroport international (le seul du Turkmenistan) d'Achgabad est situé à 13 kilomètres au nord ouest de la ville. Pour rejoindre la capitale, on peut prendre un taxi qui coute environ 10 dollars.
Muni d’une lettre d’invitation, il est également possible d’obtenir un visa à l’arrivée à l’aéroport d’Achgabat, à Turkmenbachi ou à Farab en s’arrangeant au préalable avec son agence. À Turkmenbachi et à Farab, l’agence doit s’arranger pour que le consul soit présent. Dans tous les cas, vous devrez présenter l’original de la lettre d’invitation et le visa sera émis pour 10 jours au maximum.
À l’arrivée au Turkménistan, votre guide vous remettra un petit document vert, la carte d’entrée (putyovka en russe). Vous devez sortir du pays à l’endroit indiqué sur cette carte, bien qu’un changement soit envisageable à Achgabat. Pour cela, adressez-vous à votre agence ou au guide. Il est souvent possible de proroger un visa touristique à Achgabat, de nouveau avec l’aide de votre agence de voyages.
À l’arrivée, vous devrez aussi payer de 12 à 14 $US pour une carte d’entrée, qui indique votre lieu de sortie du pays.
Obtenir un visa touristique ou d’affaires à l’arrivée est facile et rapide à l’aéroport d’Achgabat (env 100 $US), tout comme aux postes-frontières de Farab. Si vous arrivez en bateau d’Azerbaïdjan, vous pouvez obtenir un visa en arrivant à Turkmenbachi (avec autorisation du consul, qui doit être présent), mais les autorités azéries ne vous laisseront pas prendre le ferry à Bakou sans visa valable pour le Turkménistan.

The international airport (the only on of Turkmenistan) of Achgabad is located at 13 kilometers in the western north of the city. To join the capital, one can travel by a taxi which costs approximately 10 dollars.
Provided with an invitation letter, it is also possible to obtain a visa on arrival with the airport of Achgabat, Turkmenbachi or Farab while being arranged as a preliminary with its agency. In Turkmenbachi and Farab, the agency must be arranged so that the consul is present. In all the cases, you will have to present the original of the invitation letter and the visa will be emitted for 10 days to the maximum.
On arrival in Turkmenistan, your guide will give you a small green document, the input card (Russian putyovka). You must leave the country to the place indicated on this map, although a change is possible in Achgabat. For that, you address to your agency or the guide. It is often possible to extend a tourist visa with Achgabat, again with the assistance of your travel agency.
On arrival, you will have to also pay from 12 to 14 $US for an input card, which indicates your place of exit of the country.
To obtain a tourist visa or business on arrival is easy and fast with the airport of Achgabat (env 100 $US), just like with the border posts of Farab. If you arrive in boat of Azerbaijan, you can obtain a visa while arriving at Turkmenbachi (with authorization of the consul, which must be present), but the Azeri authorities will not let to you take the ferry in Bakou without visa valid for Turkmenistan.
